There’s a new American Apparel story every day: Last week,the Seattle Times wrote, “American Apparel’s new CEO brings order to company chaos.” The New York Post noticed that Versace had knocked off an American Apparel t-shirt. On Wednesday, Jezebel asked, “What the hell is going on with American Apparel?” Later that same day, The New York Times wrote, “American Apparel to Lay Off 180 Workers.” A few months after the Dov Charney shakedown, the brand is gunning for a makeover. No more nipples, see ya later pubic hair.

The fashion industry might be obsessed, but are actual shoppers paying attention? I took to the streets of Los Angeles to ask people exiting American Apparel stores exactly what they know about the company.

Nasty Gal’s Sophia Amoruso Will Be the “Most Covered Bride Ever”

Sophia Amoruso may not be the CEO of Nasty Gal anymore, but she sure is busy. There are stores to open, collaborations to launch, poodles to adopt, and a wedding to plan!

First up, Amoruso’s second brick and mortar store opened in Santa Monica this weekend. Maggie Rizer, Model and Mom-To-Be

Although recognized in the fashion world for her doll-like face and freckles, at one point model Maggie Rizer “wanted to erase the freckles and have big boobs and big hair.” The all-American Rizer—who still touts her upstate New York hometown on Lake Ontario as her favorite place in the world—has settled in the Bay Area with her husband, real-estate developer Alex Mehran, and three golden retrievers, who will be joined by a baby this November.
